Fun to make and rather enjoyable to eat. Asian spicy orange chicken and sauce adds to a special dinner with rice, your favorite steamed vegetables and egg rolls. This recipe is for two servings. Enjoy!
Ingredients
- 3 Chicken breasts
Marinade:
- 1/2 c. fresh orange juice
- 2 minced garlic cloves
- 2 Tbsp. fine orange zest
- 1 Tbsp. minced ginger
- 1/2 c. rice vinegar
- 2 Tbsp. soy sauce
- salt and pepper
Coating:
- 2 c. flour
- salt and pepper
- Optional: egg wash
Orange Sauce:
- Marinade
- 2 red chili peppers or 1 tsp. cayenne pepper
- 1 c. sugar
- 1/2 c. orange juice
- 3 tsp. cornstarch
- 2 Tbsp. chopped green onions
- Cooking oil
Instructions

Mix marinade ingredients, pour into a large resealable bag and add one inch cubed chicken meat. Refrigerate 2 or more hours, shake it up occasionally.

Save marinade and put chicken cubes in resealable bag of flour mixture.
(Optional: Place chicken in egg wash then again into flour mix in resealable bag). Shake up to completely cover chicken.

Place flour coated chicken in 375 degree cooking oil for 5 minutes or until golden. Set aside on paper towels to absorb oils.
4:
Thicken spicy orange sauce
Pour marinade into a large skillet, add other ingredients and cook until it nicely thickens. Add chicken and cook for one minute.

Great with rice and extra orange sauce
Serve while hot with extra sauce on the side.
