Snickerdoodle Cookies

My Aunt Marcia's recipe, that I've been making since age 12 or so.

Ingredients

  • ½ c. butter
  • ½ c. shortening
  • 1 ½ c. sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 2 2/3 c. flour
  • 2 tsp. cream of tartar (no substitution available)
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • ¼ tsp. salt

For topping:

  • 2 Tbsp. sugar
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Beat butter & shortening together until light.

  2. Add sugar & beat until fluffy.

  3. Beat in eggs & vanilla.

  4. Sift together: flour, cream of tartar, baking soda & salt.

  5. Slowly stir dry ingredients into wet.

For Topping:

  1. Combine 2 T. sugar & cinnamon.

  2. Shape dough into 1" balls.

  3. Roll in sugar/cinnamon mixture.

  4. Place 2" apart on ungreased baking sheet.

  5. Bake at 400* for 8-10 min.
