Chocolate Sheet Cake

Oven

Ingredients

  • ½ c. butter
  • ½ c. vegetable oil
  • 4 Tbs. cocoa
  • 1 c. water
  • 2 c. all-purpose flour
  • 2 c. sugar
  • ½ c. buttermilk
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • 1 tsp. vanilla

Frosting:

  • ½ c. butter
  • 4 Tbs. cocoa
  • 1/3 c. buttermilk
  • 3&3/4-4 c. powdered sugar
  • ½ tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 c. chopped nuts

Instructions

  1. Bring 1st 4 ingredients to boil in saucepan. Sift together flour & sugar. Pour chocolate sauce over dry ingredients & mix well. Add rest of ingredients & mix until combined. Pour into greased jelly roll pan. Bake @ 400 degrees for 30 min.

  2. For frosting: Bring 1st 3 ingredients to a boil in saucepan. Remove from heat & add rest of ingredients. Frost cake while it is still warm.

  3. This cake is better after being frozen. Can be eaten thawed or frozen.
