The best apple pie in the world!
Ingredients
- Apple Pie
- 6 C. thinly sliced apples (about 2lbs.)
- 1 C. Sugar
- 2 T. Flour
- 1 t. Cinnamon
- dash of nutmeg
- 1 T. Butter
Crust:
- 2 C. Flour
- 1 t. Salt
- 2/3 C. Shortening
- 6-7T. Cold water
Instructions
Apple Pie:
Combine sugar, flour, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Add sugar mixture to the sliced apples; toss to coat fruit. Fill a pastry-lined 9 in. pie plate with apple mixture; dot with butter. Adjust top crust. Seal and flute edge. Bake in a 375 oven for 45-50 min.
Crust:
In a mixing bowl stir together flour and salt. Cut in shortening till pieces are the size of small peas. Sprinkle 1 T. of the water over part of the mixture; gently toss with a fork. Push to side of bowl. Repeat till all is moistened. Divide dough in half an form dough into 2 balls. On a lightly floured surface flatten dough with hands. Roll dough from center to edge, forming a circle about 12 inches in diameter. Repeat with other dough ball.
