Ingredients
- 6 ½ tbsp granulated sugar
- ½ tsp salt
- 5 ½ tbsp shortening or unsalted butter at room temp
- 1 large egg, slightly beaten
- 1 tsp lemon extract
- 3 ½ c bread or all-purpose flour
- 2 tsp instant yeast
- 1 ⅛ c whole milk or butter milk (may need a pinch more)
- ½ c cinnamon sugar
Instructions
Cream together sugar, salt and shortening.
Whip in the egg and lemon extract until smooth. Add the flour, yeast and milk. Mix until dough forms a ball.
Kneed dough.
Let rise for 2 hours
Roll out dough. Sprinkle cinnamon sugar on top. Roll up. Cut dough to make rolls.
Let rise for 75 to 90 min.
Preheat oven to 350 deg.
Bake for 20-30 min. Top with sugar icing of your choice.
