Flakly Pie Crusts

www.thekitchn.com suggested making up a large batch up ahead of time and freezing in one pie at a time groups so that you have quick pie crust all winter... 2 batches fit great in FP.

Ingredients

  • 1 ½ c all purpose flour (or half and half with whole wheat)
  • 1 ½ tsp sugar
  • 4 tbsp ice water
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 8 tbsp unsalted butter (or half and half Crisco and butter)

Instructions

  1. Put water into freezer to get cold.

  2. Combine flour, salt, and sugar in food processor. Pulse 1 or 2 times. Add butter and process until butter and flour are blended and looks like cornmeal.

  3. Put in bowl and put bowl in fridge to cool while washing FP bowl.

  4. Take bowl with dough out of fridge, and sprinkle 3 tbsp of water. Use wooden spoon or spatula to gather into a ball.

  5. Wrap ball in plastic, flatten into a small dis and freeze for 10 min (or frig to 30 min)

  6. Roll out
