Sweet Corn Bread


  • 1 c all-purpose flour
  • 1 c yellow cornmeal
  • 1/3 c white sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • tsp nutmeg
  • 3 tsp baking powder
  • 1 c buttermilk
  • 1/3 c olive oil
  • 1 egg


  1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees F. Spray or lightly grease a 9 inch round cake pan.

  2. In a large bowl, combine flour, cornmeal, sugar, salt, nutmeg and baking powder. Stir in egg, buttermilk and vegetable oil until well combined. Pour batter into prepared pan.

  3. Bake in preheated oven for 20 to 25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
