- 2/3 c sugar
- 2/3 c water
- 2 tbsp grapefruit zest
- 1 ½ c tequila
- 1 c orange liqueur (such as Cointreau)
- 1 c fresh lime juice
- 2 c pomegranate juice
- 2 tbsp fresh lime juice
- 2 tbsp sugar
- 2 tsp grapefruit zest
- Ice cubes
- Grapefruit twist, for garnish
For the syrup, add grapefruit zest to sugar and water. In a large jar with a tight-fitting lid, vigorously shake syrup ingredients until the sugar dissolves, about 1 minute. Strain the syrup into a pitcher.
Add all drink ingredients to the pitcher; stir.
To rim the glass, mix sugar and grapefruit zest. Put lime juice on one plate and sugar/zest mixture on another plate. Dip the rims of 8 glasses into the lime juice, then into the sugar mix.
Fill the glasses with ice, then add the margarita. Garnish with a grapefruit twist.
