Baked French Toast

A french toast you can prepare the night before and bake in the morning.

Ingredients

  • 1 loaf french bread (or any kind of bread you like)
  • 8 eggs
  • 2 c. milk
  • 1 ½ c. cream
  • 2 t. vanilla
  • ¼ t. cinnamon

Topping::

  • ¾ c. butter
  • 1 1/3 c. Sucanat (brown sugar can be substituted, but its not as good)
  • 3 T. maple syrup
  • peaches or other fruit (optional)

Instructions

  1. Butter a 9x13 baking dish.

  2. Arrange the bread to cover the bottom.

  3. In a large bowl, beat together eggs, milk, cream, vanilla, cinnamon.

  4. Pour over bread, cover and refrigerate overnight.

  5. Measure topping ingredients into a small saucepan, cover and set on stove.

  6. Next morning preheat oven to 350.

  7. Heat topping ingredients until bubbling. Pour over bread and egg.

  8. Bake uncovered about 40 minutes.
