Gorditas De Azúcar


  • 2 c flour
  • ½ c unsalted butter, room temperature
  • ½ c milk
  • 1 Egg, lightly whisked
  • ½ c sugar
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp salt


  1. Combine the dry ingredients in a large bowl, add shortening or margarine and work it in with your hands. Gradually blend in the milk and egg. Make 10-12 dough balls and set aside. Start heating a griddle pan or comal to medium heat.

  2. With a tortilla press or a flat plate, take 1 dough ball and place between plastic sheets. Flatten to about 3.5" diameter.

  3. Cook on a hot griddle for 1 or 2 minutes on each side until nicely browned. Serve warm with butter or dulce De Leche.
