- 2 c. freshly ground white wheat flour
- 1/3 c. sucanat or brown sugar
- 1 tbsp baking powder
- ½ t. salt
- 6 T. cold butter
- ½ c. dried fruit
- ½ c. chopped nuts
- 1 egg
- ½ c. cream
Blend together flour, sugar, baking powder, salt.
Cut in butter till crumbly.
Mix in fruit and nuts.
Whisk together egg and cream separately and add to dry ingredients all at once.
Mix just until moistened.
Shape into flat round and cut into wedges (dipping the knife into flour) or drop by heaping Tablespoonfuls.
Bake 425 10-15 minutes depending on size of scones.
