Zesty Salsa

Easy salsa recipe


  • 4 firm, large tomatoes, halved
  • 1/2 medium onion, grated
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced or pressed
  • ½ c cilantro, chopped
  • 1 Jalapeno pepper, seeded and chopped finely
  • Juice of 1 lime
  • Pinch or 2 of sugar
  • Salt to taste
  • Corn chips


  1. Grate tomatoes on largest holes of a hand grater. Use a flat hand grater if you have it. Do not use metal. If the tomato sauce looks too watery, strain a bit out.

  2. Add the rest of the ingredients, except for the corn chips; refrigerate until serving time.

  3. Taste just before serving, adding salt and lime if needed. Serve with corn chips. Serves 5.
